  • Overview and Responsibilities

     

    Art Director for the Burbank-based character artists.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Execute and direct Character Art and Illustration.
    • Ensure that all team-created artwork translates the attitude and values of the VNCP properties

     

    Duties

    • Review and critique work submitted by both staff and freelance character artists to ensure high quality of excellence and correct modeling.
    • Make certain that all character artwork aligns with both property and business strategies.
    • Assist in building relationships between content creators and VNCP.
    • Partner with content creators to learn the modeling, styles and attitudes of all VNCP “priority” characters. Share this knowledge with the internal team.
    • Maintain an awareness of the VNCP priority properties.
    • Develop a pool of talent resources

     

    Reporting Position

    • Position reports to SVP Character Art and Product Development Design, VNCP Global Creative Group

     

    Basic Qualifications

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Able to collaborate and devise creative solutions.
    • Strong drawing skills with the ability to not only identify, but to execute in a variety of styles.
    • Proficient in the latest digital technology as applied to character art and illustration – especially (but not limited to) Photoshop.
    • Excellent aesthetic judgement
    • A professional understanding of Illustration, Character Art and Animation
    • Maintain an awareness of the latest animation and illustration trends.
    • Knowledge of kid’s culture and an understanding of their attitudes and issues

     

     

    Education and experience

    • 1/2 years previous experience as an Art Director or 3/4 years as Junior AD.
    • BFA in one of the Applied Arts (animation, illustration, studio/fine art)
